under the edge of the helmet, but still dead. In addition, the situation was calm in the surroundings, as there was no clash between the Palestinian resistance fighters in the camp and the Israeli assassination squad (the squad was later known as Doubdevan), and there was no threat to the lives of the Israeli soldiers, and none of them was injured, as reported by the Israeli press, quoting Army. So why did the Israeli army sniper target the Al-Jazeera crew with explosive bullets?!

I do not think for one moment that targeting the Al-Jazeera crew was absurd, or that it was the result of an individual decision of a soldier on the ground who decided to unleash his hatred on the Palestinians by killing some of their journalists with expensive bullets and a sniper rifle. In my opinion, there are those who thought of delivering a message of blood on this very day, so they set the target carefully, and decided to kill. What happened to the Al-Jazeera team may have been planned at the highest level of the Israeli government (other governments may have been involved as well), and I bet the prime minister approved the assassination. In Israel, the prime minister must sign off on every assassination. Why did the official Israeli establishment choose some members of the Al-Jazeera team to liquidate, or let’s say, kill its well-known symbol represented by Sherine Abu Aqleh?!

Let’s look at the events accompanying this day, perhaps we can find a causal relationship, even a tenuous one, between it and the assassination of Sherine Abu Aqleh. Of course, there are many events on May 11, especially the war in Ukraine and the global economy, which is rapidly sliding into the abyss. But there was an extraordinary event that stopped me, which was the visit of the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad, to the Iranian capital, Tehran. This visit comes after the visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Doha in February. And according to what the Iranian “IRNA” agency reported, the Emir of Qatar headed a high-level political and economic delegation during this visit to follow up on the political and economic agreements reached between the two countries during the Iranian president’s recent visit to Doha. The State of Qatar is counted on the American axis and has revolved in its orbit since its establishment. There is one of the largest American military bases near its capital, Doha (Al-Udeid base in Al-Sailiya), and therefore Qatar is supposed to be an ally of the camp of Iran’s enemies, not to conclude political and economic agreements! Why this sudden attraction with Iran and long-term planning? What does this rapprochement mean for Iran’s sworn enemies, such as Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, who form an anti-Iran alliance?

Was the attack on the Al-Jazeera team a reminder to the Emir of Qatar on the day of his visit to Iran that he had angered the aforementioned trio with this rapprochement with Iran? Or is it a threat to the Emir that he might meet the same fate as Sherine Abu Aqleh? So there is another explosive bullet with Tamim bin Hamad’s name written on it?

Whether this explanation is logical or not, the assassination of Sherine Abu Aqleh is still searching for an explanation because the absurdity of her assassination may be the worst thing that can happen to any Palestinian under Israeli military occupation.

Bethesda, Maryland, USA

monesaa@yahoo.com

DR.
